Why “Two Swords?”

You may wonder about the two crossed swords in the Two Swords Digital Solutions logo. Here’s the story behind them.

Two Swords Digital Solutions — crossed golden swords with circuit board shield

The name is derived from a New Testament story in Luke 22. Jesus has just finished eating with his disciples for the last time before his death. He tells them that he has come to die and that death is imminent.

Peter says that he will never leave or forsake Jesus — but Jesus tells them that before the rooster crows the next morning, Peter will have denied even knowing Christ three times. Then he told all of the disciples that they had previously gone out for ministry with nothing but faith, and God supplied all their needs. But now tougher times are coming and Christ will no longer be with them in the flesh. So he instructs his disciples to prepare for a journey by gathering a purse, some money, and some shoes. If they have an extra garment, they are encouraged to sell it to buy a sword. A sword or dagger was really the only form of personal protection that people in that day had.

One of the disciples goes out of the room, hearing that they needed swords, and came back and said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “It is enough.”

“And they said, ‘Look, Lord, here are two swords.’ And he said to them, ‘It is enough.’”

Luke 22:38 (ESV)

Bearing in mind that there were twelve disciples at this point — though one had already left to betray Christ — there were still eleven in the room with him. Jesus, hearing that they have two swords, replies: “It is enough.” From the standpoint of personal defense, not every one of the eleven needed their own sword. But at least a couple should have swords to provide some kind of defense for the others.

Two Swords Protection

For many years I have taught firearms and self-defense classes and helped people get their license to carry in the state of Texas. Although I am a big fan of the Second Amendment, I don’t think that every single person should carry a firearm — because many people are simply incapable of making wise decisions in a moment of pressure. Many will not invest the time to train properly so that using a firearm becomes muscle memory. Today with constitutional carry in the state of Texas, most people don’t see the need of taking a training class.

I firmly believe that if you’re going to carry a firearm, you should get the proper training — so you will know the legal implications of carrying a firearm and using it. You need to know when it can be used lawfully and when it cannot, and you need to know the places where you can carry lawfully and where you can’t. So I would say that Jesus’ comment about swords also applies to firearms: not every person needs a firearm, but in a small crowd it would be good if a couple of people had invested the time and gotten the training to know how to use one properly — so they can not only defend themselves but defend those about whom they care.

That principle is what I called my firearm training program: Two Swords Protection.

So What Does This Have to Do With Digital Marketing?

Normally, to do all of the tasks involved in an effective marketing program, you need a number of staff members dedicated to that one task. You need someone to set up web services, someone to direct email marketing campaigns, and someone else to distribute your content to blogs and social media. You need someone else to find potential customers and contact them directly. To put it mildly — you have to hire a team.

But in keeping with the philosophy of the company name, we believe that you don’t need a team to do all that. You simply need one good partner with the right tools.

Our company leverages the power of AI so that we’re not just working for you from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. We have AI constantly monitoring your site and working to improve results 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — just like everyone in a small group of people does not need a firearm.

If you own a small to medium business, you don’t need to hire six more staff members to do all this work. You just need a team with the right tools working on your behalf all the time.

You don’t need a team.

You just need the right partner.

And that is enough.
